Kelly Ripa got a glimpse of her husband’s high school self on Wednesday’s Live with Kelly and Mark.
After discussing self-check out machines, Mark Consuelos recalled his grocery store job that he held over the summers in high school, where he said he “would watch the cashiers do their stuff.”
Ripa asked, “Did you want to be a cashier?”
While Consuelos denied any interest in pursuing the role, he highlighted how cashiers “were answering questions [he] had no idea what the answers were to.”
“They were figuring stuff out,” he added. “I need a, what do you call it?… Price check. Not a price check, but a void.”
Ripa quipped, “Oh, not a void.”
Consuelos continued, “The person comes over with the key, and the person has to unlock something, and I’m like, ‘Wow, look at that.’”
Ripa questioned Consuelos as to what he was up to when all this was taking place, to which he replied that he was “flirting with the lady who just bought the popsicles.”
“She’s like, ‘Do you want a creamsicle?’ I’m like, ‘Sure,’” he teased.
Ripa chimed in, “You would carry them to the car?”
Consuelos said he would, noting that he “was a bagger.”
“And sometimes, I was part-time stock,” he shared.
Ripa swooned, “Oh, my gosh! Part-time stock.”
After Consuelos highlighted that he was stationed in “the dairy aisle,” Ripa joked, “No wonder we fell in love.”
However, that fawning turned sour once Consuelos referred to the aisle as “the milk aisle.”
“Ugh, not the milk aisle!” she uttered in disgust.
