Luke Grimes responds to a question of how fans would react to ‘Yellowstone’ finale
The finale of Yellowstone is around the corner. However, one of its stars, Luke Grimes, said that the reception of the hit series might become negative.
His remarks come on the heels of Kevin Costner’s departure and how his on-screen exit was handled.
In an interview with Esquire, he was asked whether the end of season five would satisfy the fans.
“At the rate we’re headed, I don’t think they’re going to be satisfied with anything. [Laughs.] Some people will realize that it was very well written and well executed. But a large part will just be mad that it’s over, which is fair,” he jokingly said.
Regarding Kevin’s character, John Dutton’s death, director Christina Voros said they decided to revisit it in episode 11 because it was important to provide more details about his death.
“It’s not something that you could pull off in exposition,” she added. “It wouldn’t make sense. I also think the violation would not be felt the same way.”
“There is something terrifying about people breaking into your home and putting you in a chokehold, and then murdering you and framing it as suicide.”
The filmmaker continued, “There’s no way that could resonate unless you saw it. In our story, it’s also the last moment we were with John.”
“To have created this character who is so bold and brave and noble and strong, the violation of that person being taken off guard when they thought they were safe and experiencing this horrible death, it’s supposed to be infuriating,” she told THR.
“Beth and Kayce, and Wes weren’t there. They’re solving the mystery. But I think it’s important that the audience is there to witness it,” Christina concluded.
