Prince Harry and Prince William have been estranged since amid their years-long royal rift
Prince William and Prince Harry have not shown any signs of reconciliation amid their royal rift.
The Duke of Sussex returned to his home country immediately after his cancer-stricken father, King Charles, phoned him about his diagnosis. Harry reunited with the monarch for mere 30 minutes but there was no sign of contact between the estranged siblings
With the King’s health condition and Kate Middleton’s recovery from ‘planned abdominal surgery,’ William, the heir to the throne, is left to shoulder major chunk of the royal duties. In this case, the royals should extend an olive branch to the Duke of Sussex, suggested PR expert Carla Speight.
“If the royal family aren’t seen to mend the rift with Harry, they are risking the future of the monarchy,” Speight told Express.co.uk. “The public aren’t as sympathetic these days and have honestly reached a point in fatigue with all the drama insiders are providing.”
King Charles, who has struggled to keep his reign going amid with criticism for his efforts to slim down the monarchy, previously expressed being fatigued by his feuding sons.
In one of the excerpts from Harry’s memoir, Spare, Charles had pleaded William and Harry to stop fighting in his final years during the funeral of Prince Philip in 2021.
Charles reportedly “stood between” his two sons and said, “Please boys, don’t make my final years a misery.”
It was reported earlier this week, that Harry – who is one of the monarch’s Counsellors of State – is willing to step into a temporary royal role. However, William is adamant to keep Harry away from the royal fold.
“It is absolutely and categorically clear that [William] would not allow Harry to return. There is a zero per cent chance Harry is coming back in any capacity,” the source previously told The Mirror.
