Selena Gomez takes major career decision after ‘Emilia Pérez’ experience

Selena Gomez reveals how ‘Emilia Pérez’ affected her decision while speaking at Santa Barbara festival

Selena Gomez has recently opened up about her career decision after ‘Emilia Pérez’ experience.

Speaking to the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 9, the Only Murders in the Building actress has recently confirmed that she’s ready to focus on acting for movies and television after her experience in Jacques Audiard-directed movie.

“I think movies and art-making and being around such incredible, talented people that have done nothing but uplift me along the way… I don’t know,” said the 32-year-old via Access Hollywood.

Selena mentioned, “It’s going to be very hard for me to ever go back to music after this magical experience.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the singer-turned-actress revealed that she watched her movie only once when premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024.

“I watched in Cannes and then I started to watch it with my family and I got nervous and you know because my grandparents were seeing me say some stuff,” recalled the Disney star.

Selena noted that her grandparents continue to “casually throw [the movie] on in the background”.

While addressing Karla Sofía Gascón controversy, the Love One crooner stated that “some of the magic has disappeared” from her memories of Emilia Pérez.

Meanwhile, Selena described filming the movie as “actually very cathartic”.
