Sam Heughan shares ‘wonderful’ gift he received from Jennifer Lopez’s mom

Outlander star Sam Heughan recalls how he came to know J.Lo’s mom Guadalupe “Lupe” Rodriguez while on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

During the podcast, Sam confessed that he had gotten a sweet present from Jennifer’s mother when he was recently at the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

“At Fallon, was anybody else on the show?” the show’s host Josh Horowitz asked him.

“Well, I did meet a very, very wonderful woman. J.Lo,” Sam teased as the 92nd Street Y crowd collectively gasped, leading him to clarify: “…Wasn’t there.”

Amid his revelation, Sam took out a cross necklace in a small container from his pocket as the audience laughed before he shared he actually crossed paths with Jenny’s mom.

“Lupe, J.Lo’s mum, who is in the audience, I believe,” Sam explained, going on to say “I hope she is.” As he flaunted the necklace, he added, “Thank you so much, Lupe, if you’re here. If you’re not, she lied to me!”

He continued: “Thank you, I got this wonderful present.” Surprisingly, Sam divulged that though he’s met Lupe he’s “not yet” met the If You Had My Love songstress. He playfully shielded his eyes from the stage lights to scan the audience to ensure Jen wasn’t secretly out in the crowd.

Last week, Sam was a guest on The Tonight Show to discuss Outlander’s eighth and final season. While on the show he tried to instruct host Jimmy Fallon on how to concoct Sassenach, a themed cocktail, after their failed cooking attempt on the show in 2023.

“It’s gonna go really well this time because there’s no egg white, no shaking,” Sam said before he watched Jimmy pour Sassenach whiskey into their cups.

“Oh no. Well. Okay. That’s going well,” Sam then said.
