The ‘Pretty Woman’ actor and his family grace the Venice Film Festival in Italy with their presence, attending the amfAR Gala and marking his birthday in style.
On Saturday, September 1, Hollywood legend Richard Gere celebrated his 75th birthday in Venice with his wife Alejandra Silva. The couple dined at the iconic Harry’s Bar before attending the Cartier Masterclass: The Art and Craft of Cinema.
The following day, Gere and Silva attended the amfAR Gala during the 81st Venice International Film Festival. Silva stunned in a semi-sheer mesh gown with navy floral detailing, while Gere looked dapper in a black tuxedo. During the gala, Gere received amfAR’s Award of Inspiration for his tireless efforts in the fight against AIDS
Gere and Silva reconnected in 2014 and have been married since 2018. Together, they share two sons, Alexander and James. Gere also has a son, Homer, from his previous marriage to Carey Lowell.
Homer joined his father at the Venice Film Festival and the amfAR Gala. On Sunday, the Gere family walked the red carpet for the premiere of “Wolfs”, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
Gere has been a vocal advocate for AIDS awareness for over two decades. In 2002, he established the charity Healing the Divide, which supports communities facing social and cultural challenges, including HIV/AIDS.
The 81st Venice International Film Festival commenced on August 28 and concluded on September 7. The festival featured a star-studded lineup, including Angelina Jolie, Daniel Craig and Julianne Moore.
