Public gets first look of new King Charles banknotes: See

Bank of England will circulate the new banknotes featuring King Charles from June 5

Britons got the chance to see the latest banknotes that featured King Charles III.

At the opening of Bank of England’s The Future of Money exhibition, royal watchers flocked to take a new look at four new notes, namely the £5, £10, £20, and £50 note, that bore King Charles’ face

As per reports, the new notes will be set to circulate from June 5.

For the unversed, the monarch himself approved the designs of the banknotes in late 2022, just months after his ascension to the throne following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.

As per museum curator Jennifer Adam, the move itself became historic as this was the first time Bank of England issued notes with a new monarch as its face since the 1960s.

“This is the first time that the Bank of England has issued a note with a new monarch on it, because Queen Elizabeth has been on our banknotes since the 1960s,” Adam told AFP at a preview.

“So it’s the first time that we as a public will have seen this transition,” she said.
