Princess Beatrice’s husband credits Meghan Markle for rare royal honour

Meghan Markle paves way for Princess Beatrice’s husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi for special privilege

Meghan Markle appeared to have set a new trend in the royal family, a break from the age-old traditions that were followed for special occasions.

Towards the ends of the summer, the royal family gathers at the Scottish Sandringham Palace to unwind and enjoy their downtime.

King Charles’ niece Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and their two-year-old daughter Sienna, are also expected to join the family for the holidays.

While Edoardo officially attends many royal family events and some engagements, he seemed to have followed in the same path as the Duchess of Sussex before his wedding in 2020.

The royal tradition stated that the family’s private Sandringham celebrations are reserved for members of The Firm, and partners normally have to wait until they are married to join in.

However, Meghan attended the festivities in 2017, when the Duchess was invited by Prince Harry ahead of their summer wedding in 2018.

Similarly, Edoardo was given the rare privilege of joining the Christmas celebrations in 2019 at Sandringham, despite tradition stating against it.

Before Prince Harry’s betrothal to Meghan, the royal rule was strictly followed under late Queen Elizabeth’s reign.

Kate Middleton, who was a longtime girlfriend of Prince William, also didn’t attend the festivities until she was officially part of the family
