Oprah Winfrey Trolls Gayle King For Pressuring Jay-Z For Interview

The ‘CBS This Morning’ Co-Anchor Reveals In A New Interview That Her Best Friend And Fellow TV Personality Tried To Talk Her Out Of Getting The Hip-Hop Mogul To Do An Interview With Her.

It’s not easy to score a sit-down with Jay-Z, and Gayle King learned it the hard way. The “CBS This Morning” co-anchor revealed in a new interview that his October sit-down with the hip-hop mogul also didn’t happen.

“You know he doesn’t like to do interviews and I was shameless,” King spilled to Scott Evans of Access Hollywood. The TV personality added that she “just groveled [so much] that it became embarrassing.”

Her best friend Oprah Winfrey also tried to talk her out of getting Jay-Z to do an interview with her.. “Even Oprah said, ‘You are making a damn fool of yourself. Stop asking him. He doesn’t want to do it,” King shared, “But I couldn’t let it go, because he never said no, no, no – he just kept delaying, delaying, delaying.”

King’s persistence and effort didn’t betray her as she eventually managed to interview the husband of Beyonce Knowles. “I don’t know why he said yes or why he changed his mind… I’m just grateful that he did,” King said.

During the interview, King notably asked the “4:44” artist about the viral “$500,000 or a dinner with Jay-Z debate.” Putting it to rest, the rapper said, “You’ve gotta take the money. What I’mma say?”

Gayle then pointed out that having lunch with him will allow people to get the mogul’s “wisdom” and with that, many believe that they could make much more than $500,000. “Because you got all that in the music for $10.99. That’s a bad deal. I wouldn’t tell you to cut a bad deal,” Jay-Z insisted. “Take the $500,000, go buy some albums and listen to the albums. It’s all there.”

“If you piece it together and really listen to the music for the words, for what it is, it’s all there. Everything that I said was going to happen, happened. Everything that I said I wanted to do, I’ve done, and there’s the blueprint,” the father of three added, referencing the title of his iconic 2001 album. “The ‘Blueprint’, literally, to me and my life and my journey is there already.”
