New blow for Meghan Markle as poll shows popularity continues to plummet

A new poll has revealed the latest popularity rankings for members of the Royal Family, with more than half of the respondents having an unfavourable opinion of the Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been dealt a new blow as a fresh poll shows their popularity has plummeted even further.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex has experienced unfavourable ratings in the last few years, but these have evidently dipped even lower since the late Queen’s death in September 2022.

Meghan and Harry made the decision to step back from royal duties at the start of 2020, and have lived in the US with their two children ever since.

Now, a new poll by Ipsos, which was taken as King Charles and Princess of Wales recovered in hospital from health scares last month, saw the popularity of Harry and Meghan plunge

Almost half – 47 percent – of those questioned have an unfavourable opinion of Harry.

Of those questioned, only 23 percent hold a positive opinion of Harry – which shows a seven percent drop since the last poll in 2023.

Similarly, Meghan’s popularity has also plummeted, with 54 percent holding an unfavourable opinion of her.

Just 18 percent of those polled voiced that they had a positive view of Meghan – which shows a five percent drop.

The 42-year-old – who was an actress prior to her short stint in the Royal Family – has now seen her lowest ranking in the past five years.

In March 2018 – just two months before she married the duke – 40 percent of the public held Meghan in a positive light.

That figure dropped to just over 20 percent in March 2022, before rising slighly in September 2022.

Ever since, Meghan’s ranking has continued to drop.

At present, the only other royal that bares a lower ranking is Prince Andrew, the disgraced Duke of York.

In contrast, Prince William stands as the most popular royal, according to the latest Ipsos poll.

William’s position in the ranking has remained unchanged since last July, with 62 percent having a positive view of the heir to the throne.

William’s wife Kate, the Princess of Wales, falls just one percent behind her husband – with a 61 percent positive ranking.
