‘Beauty in Black’ debuts on the streaming platform on Oct. 24
The first look of Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black has arrived.
On Tuesday, Sept. 24, Netflix unveiled the first trailer for the famed director’s latest series.
The action-packed teaser kicks off with Mallory (Crystle Stewart) strutting out of a lavish mansion. She makes impressive moves throughout the video like speaking to an audience of women. She certainly has Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) intrigued as Kimmie walks through a large venue and points out, “Her family owns all of this. Wonder what her life is like.”
“I bet she ain’t stayin’ in no pay-by-the-week hotel,” one of Kimmie’s friends quips.
Though Kimmie and Mallory’s worlds couldn’t be more different, they’ll soon collide in the explosive trailer, which shows one person getting slapped and another appearing to be struck by a truck.
One character sums it up as, “Beautiful and deadly,” to which Mallory responds, “Beauty in black baby.”
Per an official synopsis, the series “follows two women leading very different lives. While Kimmie is struggling to make a living after her mother kicked her out, and Mallory is running a successful business, they find themselves entangled in each other’s lives.”
Along with Williams and Stewart, Beauty in Black stars Amber Reign Smith as Rain, Ricco Ross as Horace, Debbi Morgan as Olivia, Richard Lawson as Norman and Steven G. Norfleet as Charles.
Rounding out the cast is: Julian Horton as Roy, Terrell Carter as Varney, Shannon Wallace as Calvin, Bryan Tanaka as Officer Alex, Joy Rovaris as Gillian, Xavier Smalls as Angel, Charles Malik Whitfield as Jules, Tamera “Tee” Kissen as Body, Ursula O. Robinson as Delinda, Ashley Versher as Lena and George Middlebrook as Officer Trackson
Will Areu, Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland for Tyler Perry Studios serve as producers.
Beauty in Black marks Perry’s latest Netflix project under his multi-year-first-look deal, which also brought fans Mea Culpa this past February. His previous Netflix films include A Jazzman’s Blues and A Madea Homecoming, both released in 2022, as well as 2020’s A Fall from Grace.
Part one of Beauty in Black premieres on Netflix Oct. 24.
