Netflix CEO raves on ‘Squid Game’ season two after brief visit on set

The executive announced that he will be visiting ‘Squid Game’ season two set last week

Squid Game season two is slated to “blow your mind”, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos gushed over the forthcoming addition.

The exec made these remarks after he visited the set of the upcoming season of the 2021 hit series during his two-day visit to Korea last week.

“I was thrilled by the scale of the sets,” Sarandos said.

“Director Hwang’s vision is such a powerful example of how Korean — and non-English titles – can be locally authentic while finding new international audiences on Netflix,” he added, reported by Korea JoongAng Daily.

During his trip, Sarandos visited the Seoul offices of Eyeline Studios and Scanline VFX in addition to a meeting with director Hwang Dong-hyuk and lead actor Lee Jung-jae, along with President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The Co-CEO’s brief visit came after his announcement at the meet-and-greet media event in Seoul, revealing the plan to visit the filming set last week.

“We are really excited about director Hwang’s ability for storytelling, more dynamic sets, and more mind-blowing storylines that are going to thrill the entire world,” he told the media then.

Additionally, keeping the release date under wraps, Hwang Dong-hyuk announced in December 2023 that Squid Game will return for a second season with new characters, games, and narratives.
