Prince Harry feels Nigeria tour with Meghan Markle was ‘bittersweet’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have had a successful tour of Nigeria earlier this month, but it is a bittersweet matter for the Duke of Sussex.
The couple was invited to Nigeria by the country’s chief of defence staff, General Christopher Musa, who stressed that they were invited in a “personal, not official capacity.”
While deemed as a success, royal author Tom Quinn told The Mirror that this was another kind of “failure” for Harry as his family did not give him credit for the efforts, he put in for the Invictus Games.
“Harry and Megan see their recent trip to Nigeria as a huge success, but for Harry every success is another kind of failure while his family refuse to acknowledge his efforts and steadfastly refuse to apologise for everything that had happened in the past,” Quinn said.
The author noted that while Harry put up a delightful expression during the tour, there were moments in which his real feelings slipped through the cracks.
“In Nigeria and even with Meghan at his side and regularly holding his hand he still has a permanent look of bitterness on his face.”
Moreover, public relations guru Lynn Carratt also told outlet that these tours have “deepened the rift” between the royals which is also a cause of sorrow for Prince Harry.
