The Duke and Duchess of Sussex seemingly ditched the ‘traditional royal duties’ with website rebrand
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seemingly ditched ‘traditional royal duties’ by protecting their brand with website rebrand.
For the unversed, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently named their new platform Sussex.com in a nod to their royal titles, i.e., the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
However, PR expert Mayah Riaz branded Meghan and Harry’s business move ‘savvy, saying in this way they “protect and control their own personal brand and image.”
In conversation with The Mirror, the PR guru shared, “It’s actually not uncommon for public figures, including members of the royal family, to take steps to protect and monetise their brand.”
Mayah believes that some people will find the pair’s step as a “sense of desperation” but “it’s actually a proactive step towards financial independence and autonomy.”
The expert further shared that the former working royals “have made it clear that they want to carve out their own path separate from the traditional royal duties, and securing the rights to their own brand is a logical step in that direction.”
For the unversed, Harry and Meghan stepped down from their senior royal positions in 2020 and moved to the US.
