Meghan Markle & Husband May Have Gotten The King Stamp of Approval in a Subtle Way

Amid all of the chaos in the royal family lately comes an update that might hint that brighter days are ahead between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and King Charles III. The royal family made some official updates to their Royal.UK website and it very subtly gives the Sussexes and their post-palace work a stamp of approval.

On Monday, an eagle-eyed royal fan from the blog, Gert’s Royals, noticed the changes and shared their findings on X. “Prince Harry & Duchess Meghan’s individual bios have been removed from the @RoyalFamily website. And instead they are combined into one short page,” they wrote. A refreshed biography and a link to the couple’s new website, Sussex.com, is now front and center. That pointed detail should quiet the critics who believed Harry and Meghan broke a promise to Queen Elizabeth II.

The Daily Mail said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were presenting Charles with a “big challenge” by allegedly trading their titles for commercial gain. They called their decision to rebrand their website as “provocative,” but that criticism went nowhere — the royal family approves of Harry and Meghan’s career move. The Royal.UK website shared a flattering snapshot of the couple from their October 2018 tour to Australia, Tonga, Fiji, and New Zealand as the featured image and then noted their accomplishments as individuals, including Meghan’s time as Rachel Zane on Suits.

At the bottom of Meghan’s bio is the important note, “Information about the current work of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex can be found on their official website: sussex.com.” Other statements and announcements as well as an explanation of their titles are also a part of their new page, but this small development makes it feel like Harry and his father have taken another step toward reconciliation.

The family feud seemed to reach a fever pitch in January 2023 with the release of the Duke of Sussex’s memoir, Spare, and their eviction from their U.K. home, Frogmore Cottage, which was a wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth. However, in the last few months, possibly inspired by King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, the rift has softened, and it appears Harry has been eager to put their feud in the past. A website edit may seem like a small olive branch, but it feels like King Charles has finally accepted Harry’s life outside of the royal family.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to relaunch their Sussex website back in February is receiving King Charles’s full support.

His Majesty, 75, or more likely his team, mentioned the royal couple’s brand-new website URL (sussex.com) on the pair’s new joint bio page titled “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex” on the official royal website. Prior to the change, the royals had separate profile pages displayed on the website.

Following the “About” section dedicated to the work Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan Markle, 42, have done throughout their careers, there is a brief summary of the couple’s recent endeavors with a link to the new website. The line reads, “Information about the current work of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex can be found on their official website: sussex.com.”

This is a surprisingly public show of support for the king’s son and daughter-in-law. Considering the royal website is often quite outdated, the fact that the palace has updated things to call out the prince’s new homepage is impressive.

On February 13, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched the updated version of the Sussex website. The couple had been using the Archewell Foundation website to share new updates and make important announcements since 2020. (Note: This replaced the pair’s previous website, sussexroyal.com, which still exists.)

However, there is a note on sussexroyal.com that redirects users to the new URL, which reads, “This site was established in 2020 and sets out the work streams of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, prior to their move to the United States. To learn more about the Royal couple and their philanthropic endeavors

So, why the change? Our guess is that the couple wants a rebrand and they’re trying to avoid using the word “royal” going forward. The new website features a photo of Harry and Markle clapping at the 2023 Invictus Games. And the written in bold white text is the phrase, “The Office of Prince Harry & Meghan Markle. The Duke & Duchess of Sussex.”

Nice to see the monarch supporting the duke and duchess with their latest ventures.
