The couple will be working on a new TV show for Amazon, based on a brand-new satirical thriller novel.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are moving from being in front of the camera to working behind the scenes, thanks to an announcement that’ll have fans cheering for them in excitement.
The longtime married couple are currently co-hosts on Live With Kelly and Mark, and they’ve also been seen onscreen together on All My Children and Riverdale. This time, though, they’re taking on a new role in the industry, becoming executive producers for a thriller series in development at Amazon.
According to an October 8 report from The Hollywood Reporter, Kelly and Mark’s company Milojo Productions got the rights to produce a show called My Darlings. Based on the book of the same name from author Marie Still, they will be working with Justin W. Lo and Leo Richardson (who worked on Netflix’s You) to write the book and James Griffiths as director. What’s more, the trio will also be executive producers alongside Kelly and Mark.
As far as what My Darlings is about, the outlet writes the show will be a satirical thriller focusing on an interior designer named Eloise Williams. She’s a loving wife and mother, and she’s the center of attention in her social circle. But underneath a perfect exterior, she’s also a serial killer — and someone is trying to blackmail her by exposing her past.
With a premise like that, we can understand why Kelly and Mark would want to be a part of bringing this story to the screen. What’s more, Marie is thrilled to have them on board to help her story come to life.
“I could not imagine a more talented team to bring Eloise, the serial killing mom, and her story to life,” she said in a statement to the publication. “I’m thrilled to work with Leo Richardson, Justin W. Lo, Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos and the team at Milojo, and James Griffiths and the team at Fee Fi Fo Films, whose vision I’m confident will resonate with viewers and be utterly binge-worthy.”
Looks like we have some sleuthing to do if Kelly and Mark’s new show goes forward! And if either of them decided to show up on screen, too … well, we wouldn’t have a problem with that at all.
