Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda reunite at ‘Still Working 9 to 5’ premiere 44 years after film

Dolly Parton couldn’t make it to the ‘Still Working 9 to 5’ premiere

Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda posed together on the red carpet at the premiere of the documentary Still Working 9 to 5, 44 years after their iconic film 9 to 5.

The new documentary revisits their 1980 hit movie, co-starring Dolly Parton, to “explore why workplace inequality 40 years later was never a laughing matter,” as per the official synopsis.

According to Deadline, the event, held on Wednesday, May 29, included the documentary’s official premiere and screening. It also honored Fonda, 86, Tomlin, 84, and Parton, 78, as Women’s Equality Trailblazers by the ERA Coalition Forward.

Moreover, for the weekday event, Fonda looked elegant in white slacks and a matching blazer, accessorizing with large earrings and bright red lipstick for a pop of color.

Meanwhile, Tomlin sported a black pantsuit paired with a black and white patterned cardigan.

Although Parton couldn’t attend the premiere in person due to prior commitments in Nashville, she sent a heartfelt video message.

9 to 5 is a story of sisterhood and solidarity, featuring Fonda, Tomlin, and Parton as Judy Bernly, Violet Newstead, and Doralee Rhodes, respectively.

The trio plots revenge on their sexist boss in a corporate office setting. Additionally, Fonda and Tomlin also teamed up for the Netflix series Grace and Frankie.

The Still Working 9 to 5 documentary highlights the ongoing issues of workplace inequality, emphasizing that the themes of the original film remain relevant today
