Liam Payne passed died after falling from balcony of hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Liam Payne’s body is being sent back to the UK.

One Direction alum’s body is being transported back to the UK, the Argentine public prosecutor overseeing the case has confirmed to the BBC.

The singer, 31, passed away three weeks ago following a fall from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

An autopsy revealed that Payne sustained both internal and external bleeding, along with multiple traumatic injuries from the fall.

His remains had been held in Argentina pending additional toxicology and lab tests by local authorities. Public prosecutor Andrés Madrea confirmed that Payne’s body was released to his family on Wednesday.

Liam Payne, known as one of pop music’s most recognizable voices, first rose to prominence in the 2010s as a member of the global sensation One Direction. Contributing as a co-writer on many of the group’s hits, Payne also found success as a solo artist with singles like Strip That Down and Bedroom Floor.

In the days before his passing, it came out that Payne was facing legal action from his former fiancée, Maya Henry, who reportedly issued a cease and desist order over what she termed “obsessive” contact.

At the time, Payne was dating Kate Cassidy, with whom he was reportedly making future plans, including marriage.

Payne’s family shared their deep sorrow, saying they were “heartbroken” and remembering him as a “kind, funny, and brave soul.”

They added, “Liam will forever live in our hearts.”
