Liam Payne paid heartfelt tribute during New Year fireworks in London

London’s New Year celebration leaves One Direction Fans emotional: ‘Fair play to London’

Liam Payne, the former One Direction singer, was seemingly honoured during the New Year’s celebrations in London.

Yearly, a huge show of fireworks is displayed at Big Ben and London Eye. This time during the breath-taking event as golden firecrackers illuminated the sky, One Direction’s 2011 hit song, What Makes You Beautiful, echoed through the London’s atmosphere.

Grieving fans took to X (formerly Twitter) as they suspected the song was a subtle nod to late singer Payne.

“Call me delusional, but the fireworks being yellow during WMYB is for Liam Payne because he is our light in the sky,” wrote one user.

Another penned, “The Liam Payne tribute in the fireworks made me cry btw and I still haven’t recovered.”

“Fair play to London! Those fireworks were amazing! Loved the tribute to Liam Payne,” another added.

Echoed one more, “One Direction What Makes You Beautiful on the London #NYE fireworks. Liam Payne you’ll never be forgotten.”

The tribute came after five people were charged in connection with Payne’s death in Argentina.

However, the lawyer of one of the suspects claimed that judge’s decision was “illegitimate, unfounded and arbitrary.”

Liam Payne died at age 31 after falling from the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is survived by his young son, Bear, whom he shared with Cheryl Cole.
