Watch What Happens Live met Live with Kelly and Mark this morning in a nostalgic talk show crossover.
Andy Cohen sat down with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on their eponymous talk show, where the three chatted about WWHL‘s 15th anniversary. In honor of the milestone, Cohen teased that they are “beginning a summer of celebration this month.”
“There’s going to be a party next week, and we’ve got a ton of stuff happening on the air that you’ll hear about soon,” he gushed. “It’s really exciting.”
Cohen also treated Ripa, Consuelos and Live viewers to the co-host couple’s very first WWHL appearance, which they had conducted via Skype back in 2009.
“We were in Maine visiting our daughter at summer camp,” Ripa recalled. “Let’s see how this goes.”
In the clip, Cohen asks Ripa, “Kelly, if you were not on TV, what did Mark say your job would be?”
Consuelos chimes in, “What’s your calling?”
Ripa replies, “My calling clearly is to be a fashion model.”
As for Consuelos’ guess? “Party planner.”
While Cohen hilariously cringes at the answer, Ripa and Consuelos are seen cracking up. Once the cameras returned to the Live soundstage, Cohen exclaimed, “Look how young we are! My hair is so black.”
Ripa quipped, “I remember us doing that show, and we signed off with you and I said, ‘We just put the nail in that show’s coffin.’”
Fortunately, as Consuelos noted, they “clearly didn’t,” and he proceeded to ask Cohen why he thinks the show “resonates with so many people.”
“I think because it’s fun and it’s very authentic. It’s spontaneous,” Cohen explained. “We don’t pre-interview our guests. We don’t really plan much at all! And it’s called Watch What Happens Live. Anything can happen.”
