Ripa said her husband pulled an “alpha” move when a passenger took up space on the plane. “I didn’t even ask him,” Consuelos said. “I shamed him into doing that.”
Mark Consuelos regularly flexes his muscles on Live With Kelly and Mark (see: the couple’s Titanic Challenge attempt earlier this week), but his wife and cohost Kelly Ripa recalled a moment where he also showed off his “alpha” nature amid a specific predicament aboard an airplane.
As the couple discussed Thursday the horrors of storing luggage during air travel, Ripa recalled an incident involving a fellow passenger’s pesky bag on a flight from Ann Arbor, Mich.
“We got on the flight, and I don’t know what was going on, there was hardly anybody on the plane, hardly any people on this plane,” Ripa said, setting the scene for what would eventually devolve into chaos, as, all of a sudden, “like, 20 people got on this plane” ahead of them, Consuelos added.
Ripa recalled that “every overhead compartment was occupied” and “it was as if people were bringing on extra bags and putting them everywhere,” before turning to Consuelos to observe, “You took out a man’s man purse.”
She continued: “Mark took it out, put it between his legs, put my suitcase up there, and he goes, ‘Is this somebody’s bag?'”
Consuelos admitted, “I didn’t even ask him” and “I shamed him into doing that, like, put it under the seat.
Ripa noted that the move “was very alpha,” though that wasn’t her first choice of words: “I almost used another word that they’d probably bleep.”
The pair did not, however, indicate whether or not this particular trip also saw them grappling with Consuelos’ crotch setting off any airport security machines, as they’ve been open about in the past.
In May, Ripa cited her spouse’s “travel panties” — essentially, his favorite pair of travel pants — as a repeat offender in prompting extra security investigation when he wears them.
“Anyway, the guy is usually a big, burly guy, and he’s like, ‘I’ve got to pat you down, man,'” Consuelos said. “He goes, ‘You want a private room?'”
