Ashley Park was seriously spooked on Tuesday’s Live with Kelly and Mark at the hands of Josh Gad.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos welcomed the Emily in Paris star, who, in the first portion of her interview, connected with the two co-hosts over growing up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and attending the University of Michigan, where their son currently studies.
As they chatted, viewers at home could spot Gad stealthily creeping up behind Park, who was completely unaware of him looming behind her. Gad then screamed, prompting Park to let out a shriek and jump out of her chair.
“Josh!” she exclaimed, as Gad scurried offstage.
Park then fell to her knees, placing her head in Ripa’s lap as both co-hosts comforted her with a chuckle.
Consuelos conceded, “He told us that you would enjoy that.”
Park teased that she was “awake now,” and noted that this jump scare was not their first meeting, as they “just filmed a movie together.”
“He played my husband,” she shared.
Ripa asked if this kind of scene takes place everyday, which Park confirmed.
“It’s everyday. Morning, noon, and night,” she replied.
While Ripa told Park that she “really leaped out of that chair,” Park quipped that “he’s the snowman we all love,” referring to his portrayal of Frozen‘s Olaf.
Ripa joked, “My kidneys hurt from that.”
Thankfully, Park clarified that she “love[s] Josh and confessed that she is “very easily startled.”
“We’re both from the Broadway world obviously, and people love to do that to me,” she explained.
Ripa and Consuelos then looked toward the camera, issuing a statement of support for Park: “Don’t do this to Ashley ever again,” they remarked.
