Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Get Into Uncomfortable Disagreement On-Air: ‘Suddenly I’m the Villain’

Consuelos teased his wife about her confrontation with noisy neighbors.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos never hesitate to air out their dirty laundry on Live with Kelly and Mark, to the amusement of viewers everywhere.

The couple got into yet another affection spat on Thursday, Dec. 19, during a discussion of AirBnB’s use of “anti-party technology” in advance of New Year’s Eve.

After Consuelos reminded his wife about the time a former neighbor rented out their townhouse to a group of students during “the height” of the pandemic, Ripa launched into the tale, as Decider reported.

“There were students staying on certain floors,” she began. “And then this one floor…they rented out to somebody who allegedly, I guess, was staying there, as a student or whatever. But they were throwing illegal raves, like discos.”

Ripa would be “awakened” in the middle of the night by loud music and flashing lights, she explained. At the time, Consuelos was in Vancouver.

First I called 3-1-1. Then I called 9-1-1,” she continued. “9-1-1 was like, ‘Ma’am, a party’s not an emergency.’ And I was like, ‘What do I do to make them stop?’”

Especially irritating to Ripa was the fact that gatherings of that size were “not supposed to happen” during the pandemic. Plus, she wasn’t a fan of the music they played.

“It’s, like, not my playlist,” she admitted. “And then I called 3-1-1 again, and nothing. And then finally, in the middle of the night, in winter, I, in a bathrobe, like a maniac, go over there and bang on the door.”

After she was finally buzzed up to the correct floor, she was asked if she was an Uber driver.

“I’m like, ‘I’m not the Uber, I’m your neighbor.’ These two college kids come out and I go, ‘First of all, what you’re doing is illegal,’” she said. “They’re like, ‘No, no, no, we live here.’ I go, ‘No, you don’t. I actually know who lives here, and it’s not you. I’m sure they don’t know you’re throwing a discotheque here. Turn the music off. It’s a Tuesday!’”

You became that person,” Consuelos joked.

“No, I’m not that person,” Ripa retorted. “They are that person.”

“I like that suddenly I’m the villain in the story,” she joked, going on to note that she did eventually get the students to shut their music off.

“It was 3 o’clock in the morning! On a Tuesday! What are you doing?” she added.
