Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos Call Out Two Men In The ‘Live’ Audience With “Broccoli Perms”:

Things got a little hairy on this morning’s Live with Kelly and Mark.

Co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos brought up the “broccoli perm,” a trending haircut among men which they say their son Joaquin was lucky enough to be “born with.”

“We are constantly, whenever we see him, trying to figure out a way to tame the hair,” Ripa shared. “He’s definitely got a wild, wild head of hair.”

Ripa pulled out a picture of the broccoli perm, which she described as a “zoomer hairstyle” that men are purposefully perming their hair to achieve.

“Oh yeah, that’s him,” Consuelos said once he caught a glimpse of the picture. “That’s our son.”

Ripa responded, “This is not our son. This could be our son. He did not perm his hair to make it look this way.”

Suddenly, the cameras shifted to an individual in the audience sporting a blonde broccoli perm, who bashfully attempted to stop the woman next to him from pointing at him.

“Oh, there’s one,” Consuelos quipped with laughter. “Too late!”

The young man, who introduced himself as Cooper, received some praise for his ‘do from Consuelos, who told him “it looks great.” Ripa asked whether his broccoli perm is natural or if he did it himself.

“Well I did it, because my hair used to be, like, really straight,” Cooper replied.

Ripa teased, “So you had straight hair, and you were sick and tired of it!”

Consuelos added, “I have a movie for you to watch. It’s called Fast Times at Ridgemont High.”

After the audience laughed, Consuelos continued, “No, seriously. Jeff Spicoli, played by the great Sean Penn.”

Consuelos joked that Cooper should “watch it with [his] parents,” which Ripa firmly disagreed with.

“Don’t watch that movie, and especially don’t watch it with your parents,” she said. “You watch it how we used to watch it: behind our parents’ backs.”

Ripa eventually located another guy with a broccoli perm in the audience, whose mother was “pointing to him.”

“Did you get that broccoli perm, too?” she asked.

The audience member revealed that he did not in fact get the perm, but rather has a “spray for it.”

It makes your hair look more curly,” he explained, noting that it cost “like $20.”

“I like that. Men are investing in their hair. Good for you, men!” Ripa exclaimed. “Maybe we should leave Joaquin alone.”

Consuelos argued, “Yeah… He’s not gonna listen to us.”
