Joseph Quinn says ‘Fantastic Four’ is ‘very different’ amid Marvel flops

Joseph Quinn is ‘delighted’ to work in ‘The Fantastic Four’

Joseph Quinn shared his thoughts on The Fantastic Four as he geared up to kick off production of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming venture amid superhero fatigue.

The 30-year-old actor, set to star as Johnny Storm/ Human Torch in the upcoming superhero flick opposite Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Julia Garner, seemed unfazed by the ongoing debate surrounding superhero movie exhaustion

“I think that with the story of the Fantastic Four, it feels like we want to get this right,” he told Entertainment Weekly during an interview.

“There are aspects of it that are very different to other Marvel films. That felt very compelling to me,” he brushed off any concerns, shedding light on its uniqueness.

“Again, going back to who’s involved, Matt [Shakman], of course, the director, I think is brilliant and the cast, and I’ve read it, and the script is brilliant,” Quinn continued to rave, “I am delighted to have this opportunity.”

He further emphasised the human aspect of superhero movies, that it’s the characters, their struggles, and the overall spectacle that draw audiences to theatres.

“We’re not just in a penny; we’re in for a pound with this one. We’re going to go for it,” he stated adamantly.

His thoughts come in the wake of debates around oversaturated superhero narratives following the underperformance of 2023 comic book movies, which includes, Marvel’s own Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels.
