Jennifer Lopez’s upcoming titular film is set to release later this week
Jennifer Lopez recently revealed that she highly relates to her character in her new film Atlas.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at her new film’s premiere on Monday, May 20 at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, the 54-year-old actress shared that she sees a lot of herself in the said character.
She briefed on Atlas’ synopsis, noting that the film is “a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence.”
JLo explained that the film expands its “mission to capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a mysterious past.”
The Boy Next Door alum further said that her “only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it.”
Admitting to infusing herself in the character, Lopez told the outlet: “We are so different because she’s like … doesn’t wear any of her emotions. She’s so closed off and I am too much emotion sometimes.”
However, drawing similarities with her character, the musician agreed that she resonates with Atlas on a different level since they are “both very strong and sure of what they feel.”
Offering further insight into the latter, she explained: “At times. She was very sure. She was like, ‘This is what’s happening, please listen to me. Please tell me.’ And felt very misunderstood at times. I can also relate to that a bit.”
For the unversed, Atlas is slated to release on Netflix on Friday, May 24.
