Jennifer Lopez is reportedly relying on her ex Marc Anthony after her divorce from Ben Affleck, and it’s only made them closer.
While Anthony and Affleck may seem like they have a cordial relationship, insiders did say he’s more focused on Lopez’s needs. In fact, sources told HollywoodLife back when Affleck and Lopez were dating, “Marc just wants Jennifer to be happy. He doesn’t care who she is with or where she is living… They support each other’s wants and needs and make it work.”
The insiders added to the outlet, “They have gone through their tough times, so Jennifer is hoping that eventually she and Ben could have this sort of relationship, too.”
For those who don’t know, Lopez and Affleck met on the set of the film Gigli. They started dating soon after and got engaged by the end of 2002. However, they were broken up by 2004 after canceling their wedding days prior to it. Then, in 2021, Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romance. A year later, they got engaged and married in a lavish ceremony. However, they then filed for divorce in 2024. As of Feb 2025, they’re divorced.
Before Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romance, Lopez was married to Anthony in 2004. Seven years together yielded two children (twins Max and Emme born in 2008), one film collaboration (the biopic El Cantante) and the bulk of Lopez’s discography (albums Rebirth, Como Ama Una Mujer, Brave and Love?). However, Lopez and Anthony divorced in 2011.
“When my marriage ended, it was not easy to find forgiveness. It wasn’t the dream that I had hoped for, and it would have been easier to fan the flames of resentment, disappointment and anger,” she told W Magazine in 2017. “But Marc is the father of my children, and that’s never going away. So I have to work to make things right. And that is, by far, the hardest work I do.
