‘The Death of Robin Hood’ is set to be directed by Michael Sarnoski
Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman and Emmy award-winner Jodie Comer are all set to star in Robin Hood re-imagining titled, The Death of Robin Hood.
Directed by Michael Sarnoski, whose previous projects include the Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One, the upcoming film is set to be produced by The Prestige producer Aaron Ryder.
The film itself is an intense and darker re-imagining of the classic Robin Hood tale.
In the sequel, the titular character will struggle with his past after dedicating his life to crime and murder.
Although the production is set to begin in February 2025, Lyrical Media has given a heads-up to fully finance the project.
In addition, Ryder and Andrew Swett are gearing up to produce under their Ryder Picture Company banner, with Lyrical’s Jon Rosenberg, Natalie Sellers, Rama Gottumukkala, Sarnoski, and Jackman serving as executive producers.
Reflecting on the film, Sarnoski said: “It has been an incredible opportunity to reinvent and freshly innovate the story we all know of Robin Hood.”
“Securing the perfect cast to transform the script to screen was essential. I could not be more thrilled and trusting in Hugh and Jodie to bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way.”
Meanwhile, Ryder and Swett commented: “This is not the story of Robin Hood we’ve all come to know.”
“Instead, Michael has crafted something far more grounded and visceral. Thanks to Alexander Black and our friends at Lyrical along with Rama and Michael, the world is going to love seeing Hugh and Jodie together in this epic,” they added.
