Harvey Guillén praises Disney’s efforts amidst changing world for new direction
Harvey Guillén expressed optimism regarding the prospect of a queer Disney princess, stating that he believes “we are in the life span of that potentially happening.”
Guillén, known for his roles in Wish, shared his views with ComicBook.com this week, emphasizing Disney’s strides towards LGBTQ+ representation.
“I think they’re making strides in the right direction,” he remarked.
He acknowledged the challenges of introducing new directions in an established framework but praised Disney for their efforts.
“And sometimes those things take time and I’m optimistic,” the actor added.
Harvey highlighted the potential impact of a queer princess, expressing enthusiasm for the possibility.
In Disney’s recent film Wish, Harvey portrayed Gabo, a character inspired by Grumpy from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The actor’s role aligns with Disney’s gradual inclusion of LGBTQ+ representation in its recent projects over the last decade.
More recently, both the animated Strange World and the live-action High School Musical: The Musical: The Series feature queer romance subplots involving supporting characters.
