Morris and Hurd, who share 4-year-old Hayes, split last year
Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd are putting on a united front.
The former couple — who split last year after five years of marriage — reunited in a photo shared to Morris’ Instagram story on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
“Parents of future Federer,” she captioned the image, referring to their son Hayes Andrew, 4, and tennis great Roger Federer.
In the snap, Morris, 34, wears sunglasses and a green and white striped top with her head resting on her hand. Hurd, 37, sits beside her with a slight smile on his face.
The “Push Me Over” singer filed for divorce from Hurd in October 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. Their split was finalized this past January.
Last month, Morris opened up to PEOPLE about co-parenting with the country singer-songwriter, and the ways in which their son Hayes keeps them bonded.
“I feel like there’s so many emotions when you have a child with somebody and the relationship doesn’t pan out and you just have to put on a brave face and a consistent face for your baby,” she said.
She continued, “I think [Hayes has] gone through a lot and there’s I’m sure a lot of confusion because he’s so little. But also, I feel like Ryan and I have done a really great job at just being great parents for him.”
While the Grammy winner admitted it can sometimes be “tough” to sing songs she wrote about Hurd while they were together, she knows the show must go on.
“I don’t really look back on them with shame or regret,” she said of songs Hurd inspired and that they worked on together. “It’s like, ‘That was a really beautiful time, and I truly felt that way when I wrote it; it didn’t work out in the long run, but the song still matters.”
A source told PEOPLE earlier this month that Morris is newly dating Perfect Match star Justin Assada.
Assada, 27, fueled dating rumors in August when he shared a photo of himself seemingly on a sushi and movies date with Morris, who came out as bisexual in June.
