Former ESPN Host Shot Down by Meghan Markle

The 49-year-old former ESPN host Ryen Russillo has revealed that he was once turned down by Prince Harry’s wife and the Duchess of Sussex despite believing she was ‘obtainable.’

Ryen Russillo, now working for The Ringer, recalled meeting Meghan Markle at a celebrity flag football game in 2014. According to Russillo, who was joined by Sports Illustrated swimsuit models, Markle was not receiving much attention. “I was like, ‘That’s my lane. She’s probably doubting herself a little bit right now. She’s never been more obtainable,’ ” he said.

“It was all of the [Sports Illustrated] swimsuit models. So, nobody was really paying any attention to Markle,” he claimed. “I was like, ‘That’s my lane. She’s probably doubting herself a little bit right now.’ She’s never been more obtainable.”

Afterward, Russillo reached out to Markle via DM to ask her to appear on his sports show to promote the upcoming season of “Suits”. Russillo admitted to ulterior motives but claimed he kept his message professional. However, Markle declined the offer, responding with, “Oh, I don’t know anything about sports, but thanks for the offer.”

Russillo’s story has become a joke among his friends, including NFL reporter Charissa Thompson and Sara Walsh. It has also been the subject of some trolling by Piers Morgan, who Russillo has previously mocked.

Despite the rejection, Markle did make a lasting friendship that day with tennis legend Serena Williams, who barreled into her during the game and quickly bonded with her.
