Fans suspect Swift will make an appearance at the American Music Awards
The speculation began after Swift’s merch store posted a new banner that read “Apparel, Music, Accessories, Sale” – a lineup fans quickly noticed forms the acronym A.M.A.S., matching the awards show’s initials. Coincidence? Swifties don’t think so.
The AMAs, airing live on CBS and Paramount+ and hosted by Jennifer Lopez, will be packed with star power – but Swift remains a major draw. She’s up for six nominations, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Favorite Touring Artist.
Despite her nominations, Swift has kept a notably low profile this spring, reportedly enjoying quiet downtime with boyfriend Travis Kelce. The pair were most recently spotted in Philadelphia celebrating Mother’s Day with Kelce’s mother, Donna, and sister-in-law Kylie Kelce.
Fans believe Swift will make an appearance
Still, Swift has made headlines – not for music, but for her unexpected entanglement in the legal battle involving longtime friend Blake Lively.
In late 2024, Lively accused It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment. Baldoni responded with a defamation and extortion lawsuit. The situation escalated when Baldoni’s legal team subpoenaed Swift, despite her limited involvement with the film.
A Swift spokesperson told PEOPLE:”Taylor Swift never set foot on the set… She had no input on casting, editing, or scoring. She only viewed the movie weeks after its release, while she was touring worldwide.”
Lively’s representatives criticized Baldoni and co-producer Steve Sarowitz, accusing them of turning a harassment case into media fodder. They called suggestions to livestream Lively’s deposition or hold it at Madison Square Garden for charity “disrespectful and demeaning.”
“This is a very serious legal matter, not Barnum & Bailey’s Circus,” said Lively’s rep. “The defendants continue to intimidate and shame women under the guise of transparency.”
Meanwhile, rapper Kendrick Lamar leads AMA nominations with 10 nods, including Album of the Year (GNX) and Song of the Year (Not Like Us), intensifying his rivalry with Drake. Lamar will face off with Swift, Billie Eilish, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter, and others for top honors.
Whether Swift makes a surprise appearance or not, her presence – and the drama surrounding her – continues to dominate headlines.
