The married couple got real about communication in relationships.
Have you ever been in a conversation with someone only to realize the other person isn’t paying attention to what you have to say? Kelly Ripa just experienced that with her husband Mark Consuelos on live TV — and she put him on the spot about it.
In a video posted on Decider’s Instagram on February 19, Live With Kelly and Mark viewers caught a conversation between the longtime couple during a taping of their hit daytime series. As Kelly was explaining a New York Post article she read about brain activity and its correlation to dying hospital patients, Mark quietly sat next to her as she shared the report’s findings. But as Kelly saw Mark gazing at her, she realized he wasn’t actually taking in her words. As a result, Kelly called out Mark in front of the audience.

“Why are you looking at me?” Kelly began in the clip.
“No, I just think it’s a cool concept,” Mark replied.
“I think you just drifted off and started thinking about something else,” Kelly responded back, to Mark’s chagrin. “I’ve been married to you long enough to know when you’re not listening to me … You’ve moved on, and I’m trying to think about what it is you could possibly be thinking about!”
While Mark couldn’t hold back his laughter, he eventually shared what was on his mind at that moment. He admitted he was contemplating what he had ordered for lunch that day, and was having regrets about his choice. This led Kelly to get even more animated, saying that she clearly knows his tells after almost 30 years of marriage.
“Do you understand that I know him so well that I was like, he’s not even listening!?” Kelly added.
Naturally, seeing Kelly and Mark’s rapport had fans cracking up — and they also shared their thoughts on the situation.
“Hilarious. I actually stopped and replayed cuz I stopped listening in 10 seconds lol. 😂,” one person wrote. “Props to Mark for admitting to it,” another replied. “I get it Kelly! Haha!!! I can certainly relate. Good call out! 😂,” a different follower added.
