As someone with 250 million Instagram followers and a steady tabloid presence dating to the 1990s, Jennifer Lopez is not able to harbor many secrets these days.
Her highly-publicized divorce from fellow actor Ben Affleck was recently settled, and rumors already have “Jenny from the Block” tied to one of Hollywood‘s titans.
Kevin Costner has graced the silver screen and the small screen for five decades, winning accolades and plaudits for the breadth and variety of his work. That quality has not been lost on Lopez, 55, who has been following the 70-year-old Costner‘s work for years and recently spent time with him during a Christmas getaway in Aspen, Colorado. But then, Affleck would have already known that — or suspected as much.
Affleck called it…during his marriage!
It turns out that Affleck, in his own way, saw the rise of “Kennifer” coming from a mile away. During a 2023 interview to promote his movie “Air“, Affleck told “The Bill Simmons Podcast” that he was “disturbed” over just how much Lopez liked “Yellowstone“, a Western TV series starring Costner. Affleck claimed that at one point, Lopez even showed him a clip of a monologue delivered by actress Kelly Reilly‘s character, Beth Dutton, underlining the importance of the show in her life.

Costner starred in the series (which ended last month after its fifth season) as Yellowstone Dutton Ranch patriarch John Dutton III, and he received widespread praise and acclaim for his portrayal of Dutton. The career resurgence prompted Costner to begin work on a series of Western films known as the “Horizon Saga” — and Lopez reportedly professed her love of the first “Horizon” film to Costner when they met in Aspen over the holidays.

It remains to be seen just how far Costner and Lopez will take this rumored romance, especially since both Hollywood stars were divorced over the past year. But Affleck’s surreal revelation about Lopez’s admiration for Costner is already proving to be quite prescient.
