Just when you thought the magic was over, Kathryn Hahn lights up the award season with a Golden Globes nomination, keeping hopes alive for more Agatha Harkness adventures.
Kathryn Hahn’s spellbinding portrayal of Agatha Harkness in Marvel’s “Agatha All Along” has not only captivated audiences but has also earned her a prestigious Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy. This nod marks Hahn’s very first nomination and highlights a remarkable milestone for the actress.
Following the nominations, rumors swirled about a potential Season 2 renewal, and Hahn addressed the speculation surrounding the series finale of “Agatha All Along.”
Previously, she commented that the finale was a satisfying way to “say goodbye.” However, she has since clarified in an interview with Deadline, “I think I meant that we were very satisfied by the way that Agatha All Along ended the arc of that story being told there.” Hahn remains optimistic about returning, stating, “I think everyone would be thrilled to come back, of course, in any capacity.”
The actress reflected upon the profound impact the project had on her, describing it as a “life-altering, deep experience in Atlanta, Georgia, with just this very small cast on the soundstage, day after day after day.”
Marvel’s significance in the award circuit has traditionally been limited, particularly in acting categories. Hahn’s nomination, along with Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” bagging a nomination for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, represents a significant moment for the franchise.
“I’m so proud, and I’m so thrilled for Marvel. They were so supportive of this tiny, fabulous, female- and queer-led show,” Hahn praised. She expressed hopes that this recognition could act as a “buoy” for continued investment in diverse, character-driven stories within larger franchises.
Over the weekend leading up to the nomination announcement, Hahn was immersed in the holiday spirit at Disneyland, narrating the Candlelight Processional. She admitted she had forgotten about the Golden Globe nominations being announced on Monday, making it a delightful surprise to kick off her week.
As for her celebration plans? “We were going to pick out our Christmas tree tonight. I don’t know. I mean, life just goes on, and I’ve got kids, so I’m hoping I have a glass of champagne tonight,” she laughed. “Maybe I’ll buy myself flowers. The whole thing is really giddy, then you just immediately feel like, ‘Okay, I can’t wait to get back to work.’ ”
