On heels of her nomination at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards, Miley Cyrus has released ‘Beautiful That Way,’ a touching ballad featured in Pamela Anderson’s movie ‘The Last Showgirl.’
Miley Cyrus has unveiled her captivating new single, “Beautiful That Way,” which she recorded for Gia Coppola’s upcoming film, “The Last Showgirl,” starring Pamela Anderson. The song was nominated for Best Original Song at the 2025 Golden Globes, marking Cyrus’ second nomination in the category after her 2009 nod for “I Thought I Lost You” from Disney’s “Bolt”.
Cyrus co-wrote “Beautiful That Way” with Lykke Li and Andrew Wyatt, who also produced the track. The song serves as a poignant ballad that captures the film’s themes of change and the search for identity.
In the song, Cyrus sings of resilience and acceptance, offering solace to Anderson’s character, a showgirl facing the closure of her long-running show. The lyrics, such as “At least you had your day / Now the light shines on some other girl / Who’s beautiful that way,” resonate with the film’s exploration of the challenges of aging and societal beauty standards.
The Last Showgirl” follows Anderson’s journey as she navigates the abrupt end of her show and the need to redefine her life. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is set for a limited release in select theaters on December 13, followed by an international release on January 10.
Cyrus spoke of her admiration for Anderson and her connection to the film, “Pamela is deeply embedded into my earliest memories with my mother. We both worshipped Pam and still do. I took the emotion I have towards those times with my mom and the few times we’ve gotten to spend with Pam. I thought a lot about what this film means to her not just as an actress but as the special person that she is.”
Pamela Anderson is also nominated for Golden Globes, marking her first-ever nod at the awards show. She will compete in the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama category.
“Beautiful That Way” is not only a soundtrack contribution but also a personal expression for Cyrus, who said, “This song is devoted to the film and focused on the story Gia and Pam are telling. The lyrics really resonate with me personally, but sonically this song is a love letter to their project.”
The release of “Beautiful That Way” adds to the anticipation for the upcoming film “The Last Showgirl,” which promises to be a moving and introspective exploration of the complexities of life and the resilience of the human spirit.
