Why would a reality TV star choose a glam room as a bedroom? Teddi Mellencamp’s unconventional living arrangement at Kyle Richards’ house makes sense when you hear the whole story.
Teddi Mellencamp, the former star of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” recently revealed her unconventional new living arrangement amid her ongoing divorce from Edwin Arroyave. Rather than opting for a guest house or even a spare bedroom, Mellencamp has been residing in the glam room of her close friend and fellow “RHOBH” star, Kyle Richards.
Mellencamp opened up about her unique situation during the premiere episode of her new podcast, “Diamonds in the Rough,” which she co-hosts with Erika Jayne. When Jayne pointedly asked Mellencamp if she was truly staying at Richards’ house, she confirmed, “That’s my bedroom now, b***h!”
One reason for Mellencamp’s unusual choice of residence is her commitment to her children. Mellencamp and Arroyave, who share three kids – Slate, 12; Cruz, 10; and Dove, 4 – have adopted a “nesting” arrangement. This practice allows their children to remain in the family home while the parents cycle in and out for their respective parenting time. “It does work out really well for the kids,” Mellencamp noted, emphasizing the benefits of this stable environment.
Living at Richards’ house, conveniently located nearby, allows Mellencamp to maintain an easy and comfortable transition between her parenting shifts. “I just zip on over. It’s close. It’s easy,” she remarked. Mellencamp even noted how Richards occasionally cooks for her, making the living arrangement feel even more like home.
Mellencamp expressed her gratitude for Richards’ hospitality, describing the glam room as “so cozy” and “a dream.” Despite Richards’ own changes at home, including the departure of her estranged husband Mauricio Umansky, she has made Mellencamp feel welcome.
Mellencamp’s divorce from Arroyave, which was officially filed on November 1, came after 13 years of marriage. Infidelity allegations are flying around with her being accused of having an affair with a married horse trainer and he reportedly was not a saint either.
She cited irreconcilable differences as the cause of their separation. Nevertheless, Mellencamp has publicly expressed respect and gratitude for the life they built together, stating, “Marrying Edwin and having our kids and doing that together is one of the best things that I’ve ever done.”
As Mellencamp navigates this new chapter of her life, she remains focused on her children’s well-being, ensuring that every decision she makes is in their best interest. With the support of friends like Kyle Richards, she is making the transition as smooth as possible, demonstrating that unconventional solutions can sometimes be the most effective
