Kelly Ripa and Husband Mark Consuelos Make Big Announcement About ‘Live With Kelly and Mark’

Live With Kelly and Mark is preparing for an exciting change! Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are taking the show to a new location for a special series of episodes in her dream destination.

Live is heading to Palm Springs, California, to tape four shows from The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort and Spa.

“We manifested this. We really, really did,” Mark, 53, told People in an interview published on Wednesday, November 6.

“It’s one of our favorite places. I think we started talking about it and we were just joking. We were like, ‘We should do the show there,’ to [Michael] Gelman,” he said. “We talked about it so much that I think it got their attention in Palm Springs, and it just kind of happened.”

The couple also shot down rumors that they had permanently moved to Palm Springs. Currently, the All My Children alums live in a Manhattan penthouse and have not decided to permanently relocate to the West Coast. Regular episodes of Live are filmed in this show’s New York City studio, but they do travel to other locations on occasion each season.

The Palm Springs tapings will occur on November 10 and November 11. The city holds a lot of memories for Kelly, 54, and her husband of 28 years. They first visited Palm Springs for the first time more than a decade ago when they attended a party at the Merv Griffin Estate in La Quinta.

“We were just gobsmacked by how beautiful it was, by the perfect weather, the crystal blue skies, the mountains, the people, everybody was in a good mood, the fruit trees. Everything about it appealed to our sensibilities,” Kelly told The Desert Sun on Monday, November 4. “Every opportunity we got to go back, no matter for how brief, and it was always brief, always a two-day trip, a 24-hour trip, we would leap at the opportunity to take it just because it meant more to us to be there than the travel time to get there.”

After the party, Kelly and Mark began visiting Palm Springs more frequently with their kids, Michael, Lola and Joaquin. The upcoming Palm Springs shows are a nod to all of the great memories the family has made on their vacations.

“This is one everyone is excited about,” Kelly said. “Sometimes we’ll do remotes, and it seems like, oh boy, logistically this is going to be tough, or wow this is going to be a lot of work. Everybody universally is excited about coming to Palm Springs.”

Earlier this year, Kelly expressed that she would be interested in moving to Palm Springs in the future when she retires to pursue a new hobby.

“I’ve been dying to take up bridge,” the Emmy winner told the Live audience during a January 11 episode. “Here’s my plan: we learn bridge; the next phase to learning bridge is you move to Palm Springs. That is the way it goes. That is the natural progression of your life.”

Mark had gotten Kelly bridge lessons for Christmas the year prior.

“So I am halfway there because I have my bridge lessons, and you’re going to take them with me,” Kelly said. “You will be obligated to move us to Palm Springs, where 90 percent of bridge players live.”
