The University of Michigan Lacrosse team got a little TV exposure Thursday (10/17) when they visited the set of Live With Kelly and Mark.
The moment of levity in the two-minute video below happens at 1:40, as Mark Consuelos chats with the team’s head coach Kevin Conry. Spoiler alert, I’m about to share the punchline with you so if you’d rather, you can just scroll down to the video and watch it for yourself.
Kelly and Mark’s Ties to Michigan
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been linked to Michigan ever since their younger son Joaquin became a student at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and signed on to the wrestling team.
The talk show hosts have been spotted in Ann Arbor on numerous occasions supporting their son and after growing tired of being empty nesters, the couple rented an apartment near the U of M campus in 2022.
Proud University of Michigan Parents
After we see a sea of yellow shirts worn by the U of M Lacrosse players in the audience, Kelly Ripa opens the show by enthusiastically welcoming the team.
“I think I speak on behalf of all of us when I say ‘Go Blue!'” Ripa exclaims at the beginning of the broadcast.
After looking for a team spokesperson, Head Coach Kevin Conry is given a mic for a light-hearted exchange with Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos. The coach gives kudos to his team for being tough, strong, and athletic.
Consuelos follows up with another question, asking the coach:
“Who’s tougher, Michigan wrestling or Michigan lacrosse?” .
The query gets a big response from the audience knowing that the couple’s son is on the wrestling team.
Conry is quick on his feet when he quips, “I choose not to answer that question!”
