Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg will be competing as coaches for season 26 of ‘The Voice’
Michael Bublé can thank his daughter Vida for connecting him with Snoop Dogg.
During a Monday, Sept. 23 appearance on Today while promoting his upcoming coaching gig on The Voice, Bublé, 49, revealed an unexpected way he connected with fellow judge Snoop, 52.
At one point during the talk show, Today host Craig Melvin showed a photograph of Bublé’s family, including Vida, 6, wearing a shirt from Death Row Records, Snoop’s record label. “What’s the backstory here?” he asked.
The “Everything” singer said, “When I went to go meet Snoop the first time, out of the blue she said, ‘Papi, are you going to sing with Snoop Dogg?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’m going to go do a thing.'”
He then asked how his daughter knew who Snoop was, revealing that every morning her teacher would play the rapper’s Affirmations from Snoop Dogg’s Doggyland, an animated show starring the “Gin and Juice” singer as Bow Wizzle.
“And every morning, the kindergarten class would listen to Uncle Snoop,” he continued. Bublé said that he showed Snoop a video that Vida made for him. “And honestly, he’s such a beautiful.. he’s a deep, beautiful guy. That was like a great sense of connection. We hit it off. He’s the best. We’re all, we’re all family on this show.”
Bublé is also the father to Noah, 11, Elias, 8, and Cielo, 2, whom he shares with wife Luisana Lopilato.
The singer told his Voice costars in an Instagram Reel from Sept. 18 that while he was “so nervous” to meet Snoop, the rapper wound up being “so awesome.” “I was so excited to meet you, and you were better than I ever thought you could be,” he gushed.
Snoop exclusively told PEOPLE earlier this month about his and Bublé’s relationship.
“Who would’ve thought? But I’ve been known to have pairings with people who you wouldn’t expect me to pair with, and it just feels like me and Bublé are lost brothers,” he said about being “like brothers from another mother.”
“We love the same things, we agree to disagree, and it’s just beautiful finding somebody like this so far in my career that has the same views in life and that I can mesh with and bond with on screen and off screen.”
Joining Bublé and Snoop for the latest season of The Voice are coaches Gwen Stefani and Reba McEntire.
The Voice’s 26th season premieres on Sept. 23 a 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
