Jennifer Lopez has secured her next rom-com role.
On Tuesday, Sept. 17, multiple outlets reported that Lopez, 55, will star opposite Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein in an upcoming Netflix romantic comedy titled Office Romance.
While no details regarding the movie’s storyline were immediately available, Goldstein, 44, is reportedly writing the screenplay with another Ted Lasso alum, Joe Kelly.
Lopez confirmed the casting news, sharing Deadline’s article about it on her Instagram Stories, writing, “This is going to be fun!!!”
Deadline reported that Netflix won a “a hot bidding war for the feature,” which will mark Lopez’s third movie with the streamer after 2023’s The Mother and Atlas, which released earlier in 2024.
Lopez stars in the upcoming sports drama Unstoppable, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 6. The movie covers the story of real-life wrestler Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg and went on to become a champion athlete.
Outside of Unstoppable, Lopez also stars in an upcoming movie Kiss of the Spider-Woman. Lopez has starred in a number of rom-coms over the years, including 2001’s The Wedding Planner and more recent titles like 2022’s Marry Me and Shotgun Wedding.
Goldstein, meanwhile, joins the Netflix rom-com after winning two Emmy Awards in recent years for his work on Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso, in which he costarred as the disgruntled veteran soccer player (and later coach) Roy Kent.
He also worked as a writer and producer on the series; he won the Emmy for outstanding supporting actor for both of the series’ first two seasons in consecutive years.
