Live with Kelly and Mark wrapped up the week with a light-hearted Friday show, but the co-hosts still didn’t deprive us of a little husband and wife banter.
On this morning’s episode, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos concluded some sweet segments at the top of the episode — including a story about a woman who graduated from Stanford University at 105 years old and a bride who crocheted her entire dress and her husband’s tuxedo for their wedding day — before launching into their next topic, which got Consuelos into a bit of hot water.
“Summer Skin Week wraps up with some common misconceptions about the aging skin,” Consuelos said, before turning and looking very directly at his wife and co-host.
Big mistake!
Ripa grinned as the crowd applauded, then paused for a beat and turned to her husband.
Why are you looking at me?” she asked as he laughed nervously.
“I have no misconceptions about it!” Ripa exclaimed. She then told the audience, “I’ve decided that from now on, I’m going to sleep hanging upside down. That’s the next phase.”
Consuelos chimed in to suggest, “with some weights,” as he mimed applying weights to his own face.
Ripa took it even one step further, joking, “Weights attached to all parts of my body.”
Sounds like an interesting nighttime routine, but with these two, that’s not too out of the ordinary. Ripa has previously shared some tidbits about her husband’s sleep habits, specifically airing her complaints about his snoring.
During a June episode of Live, Ripa told viewers that her husband was snoring so loud the night before that he woke himself up, saying, “His snoring got so insurmountable for him, that he woke up, and shushed himself. I’m not kidding. He shushed himself. I was like, ‘Are you shushing me, because you’re shushing you.’”
When Consuelos asked her what his snoring sounds like, Ripa didn’t spare him. She quipped, “There’s a meme of a child crying, listening to their father snore. That is all of us. The kids and I send this to each other constantly because no matter where you are in the house, if Mark is sleeping, you can hear him snoring.”
