The Prince and Princess of Wales have a long list of interests and sporty passions
Kate Middleton has expressed discomfort with Prince William’s high-risk activities, and King Charles also has reservations.
However, one of Prince William’s long-standing interests causes Kate to wince, as she admits to absolutely hating it. She once revealed that she never wants her oldest son, Prince George, to follow in his father’s footsteps and pick it up.
The future King has since scaled back on this hobby with his family in mind.
The hobby in question is riding motorbikes, and it’s understandable that Kate wasn’t keen on it. Known for its high stakes, this activity gets adrenaline pumping for a reason, and Kate didn’t love the idea of her beloved husband engaging in such a risky pursuit regularly.
Kate revealed just how much William’s hobby stressed her out back in 2015 when the couple were four years into their marriage. At the time, their son George was only two years old, and their daughter Charlotte was still a baby, just a few months old.
“He’s still riding it,” she said about his motorbike during a visit to Dundee, “It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it. I’m terrified. Hopefully, I’m going to keep George off it.”
William is reported to have gained his motorbike license when he was 19, but just a few years after Kate revealed her anxieties about his hobby publicly, he admitted that he had seriously scaled back his rides.
“I’m a dad of three. I have to tone it down. I miss big trips, for me biking was always about being with everybody else,” William said in 2018 at the Isle of Man TT races.
Kate definitely isn’t the only member of the Royal Family to have their doubts about William riding motorbikes around, with his father Charles reportedly saying at a reception in St. James Palace when his sons were younger, “I always worry about them. It’s about other cars not being able to see you. I’m always telling my sons that”.
For the unversed Kate and King both are receiving cancer treatment.
