King Charles, Prince Harry walk in same pedestrian area due to insecurity about their famous wives

Charles and Diana married in 1981

King Charles “hated Princess Diana stealing the limelight, and now Prince Harry is in the same position with Meghan Markle,” a royal author claims.

When Charles and Diana married in 1981, their union seemed like a fairytale romance, but their love story was not meant to last.

Throughout their marriage, Charles reportedly became increasingly resentful of Diana’s immense popularity. Early in their relationship, Charles was often overshadowed by his wife. Crowds would cheer for Diana and call out her name, eager to see or speak with her rather than the future king.

King Charles is speculated to have ‘hated his wife Princess Diana stealing the limelight’ on royal tours during their marriage and now Meghan Markle is following in her late mother-in-law’s footsteps, claims a royal expert.

Diana herself confirmed his jealousy in her controversial Panorama interview in 1995. “The pressure on us both as a couple with the media was phenomenal, and misunderstood by a great many people,” she said.

“We’d be going round Australia, for instance, and all you could hear was, ‘Oh, she’s on the other side.’ Now, if you’re a man like my husband, a proud man, you mind about that if you hear it every day for four weeks. And you feel low about it, instead of feeling happy and sharing it.” Claiming it caused “a lot of jealousy”, she added: “A great deal of complicated situations arose because of that.”

And now it seems that Prince Harry is facing the same problem that his father did, with the Duke of Sussex seemingly “overshadowed” by his beautiful wife, Meghan Markle.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, royal author and expert Tom Quinn spoke of King Charles’s “huge headache” before touching on a “poisonous issue” that Harry’s mother and father endured throughout their marriage.

“It’s ironic that one of the most poisonous issues between Harry‘s mother and father was that wherever they went in the world Diana stole the limelight and Charles, as the future king, hated it,” Mr Quinn told Mirror.

“Now Harry finds himself in the same position – always rather diffident, Harry is permanently in his wife’s shadow. In Nigeria where she was able to talk about her Nigerian heritage, Meghan was always the centre of attention.”

Mr Quinn concluded: “Harry doesn’t mind for now, but at the back of his mind there will always be the thought that once again he is always a side dish and never the main course.”

This comes after the Sussexes flew to Nigeria for a tour to promote the Invictus Games. The couple spent 72 hours in the West African country to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

The trip came after Harry flew back to the United Kingdom for a service of thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral. While back on home soil, the Duke did not meet with his father due to conflicting schedules.
