Prince Harry reportedly confided in his friend to express his desire to return to royal duties
King Charles is reportedly considering Prince Harry’s offer to undertake royal duties in the wake of his ailing health.
According to the Times, the Duke of Sussex spoke to his pals about chipping in to royal duties as the 75-year-old monarch battles cancer, while his sister-in-law Kate Middleton continues to recover from her abdominal surgery.
The outlet also reported that the father-son duo has had several “warm exchanges” since Charles informed him – and the public – about his diagnosis earlier this month.
Harry recently hinted at his return to the royal fold by agreeing to the sentiments of any illness “reunifying” the family in a conversation with Good Morning America host on Friday.
Royal expert Hugo Vickers weighed in on the possibility of the Spare author making his way back to the family, noting that though reconciliation is “possible” in the long run, he can’t “suddenly pick up royal duties again”.
“His father has never responded to any of the jibes that have come in his direction [and] has left the door wide open for [Harry],” he told the Daily Mail.
“The other day, he came to see him and I would hope that was a tonic for the King. I don’t know whether it was, but I hope so because he obviously loves his son,” the expert added.
